PDX Live Events PDXLIVE EVENTS

Portland creates the information. Portland should benefit from organizing it.

PDX Live Events is an independent Portland publication. We are currently completely self-funded and built to discover what is happening across the city without depending on a corporate feed or ticketing algorithm to decide what gets seen.

We gather and verify local event information, keep submissions free, and support the work through local underwriting and thoughtful community partnerships.

Free to Submit

Artists, venues, organizers, and community members can submit events without paying us. Payment never determines whether an event is listed, featured, recommended, photographed, or written about.

Useful Local Information

The event calendar is the foundation. Artist and venue directories, the event archive, and new local search and discovery surfaces are developing parts of the same public information system.

Coverage Is Not for Sale

Sponsorship, advertising, and underwriting are kept separate from editorial selection. Support never buys a listing, recommendation, feature, or prominent placement.

The information is already out there. Finding it is the hard part.

Portland produces an incredible amount of live culture every night, but the details are scattered across social feeds, venue websites, ticketing platforms, newsletters, flyers, artist pages, and search results. Keeping up usually means following dozens of accounts and hoping an algorithm shows you the show before it happens.

There is also an economic mismatch: platforms prioritize high-dollar ticket sales, leaving community shows, local bands, comedy sets, and free events behind. Social platforms optimize feeds for engagement. Ticketing platforms primarily facilitate ticket transactions. Search engines answer searches. PDX Live Events is built simply to show what Portland is doing, chronologically and locally.

Build the discovery engine here, so the value stays useful here.

We turn fragmented announcements into structured local data. Instead of fighting feeds for updates from artists and venues you already love, you can see what is happening, where it is happening, and who is on stage.

Keeping this work local creates value in both directions: audiences discover great shows, and artists gain another direct channel. Over time, that same foundation powers artist and venue directories, the event archive, and new local search and discovery surfaces without extracting local value to third-party tech platforms.

Shared infrastructure instead of hundreds of little islands.

Local stages, artists, and promoters spend significant time and money maintaining separate websites for the same core details: dates, lineups, links, and flyers. We build lightweight, fast tools so shared event information does more work across Portland without everyone having to reinvent the wheel.

Useful analytics without surveillance.

Artists and venues deserve to know how people discover their work, but readers should never have to surrender their privacy in exchange for local event listings. We provide aggregated, privacy-conscious analytics that help local cultural producers make informed decisions without behavioral tracking or surveillance.

Help Keep Portland's Event Information Local

We are currently completely self-funded. Local underwriting from Portland businesses and organizations helps support reporting, hosting, and open access for everyone. It does not buy editorial coverage, recommendations, listings, or prominence.

Built in Portland. For Portland.

We are still building. Artist profiles, venue catalogs, archives, search, analytics, and shared publishing infrastructure are part of a larger system designed to make Portland's cultural information easier to find and more useful to the people who create it.
